'The Shining' sequel book and prequel film in the works

A book sequel and a film prequel of that milestone of terror, "The Shining," are in the works and Stephen King fans are positively chopping through doors with excitement at the prospect. The tragically titled "Dr. Sleep" focuses on Danny, the little boy in the first book and film. Now a man, Danny uses his telepathic abilities working in a nursing home populated by vampires — obviously. It’s hitting shelves in January, when everyone’s nicely snowed in. Details on the screenplay prequel to Kubrik’s 1980 classic are more scant, but apparently the writers behind "Shutter Island," "Zodiac," and "The Amazing Spider-Man" are involved. Let’s hope the prequel explains how all that blood got in the elevator.

Husbands: You may not be the best sex your wife has ever had

Husbands who believe their inept, three-minute fumblings to be the best damn sex their wives have ever had are way off. In an online iVillage survey of 2,000 married women, 52 percent said their husband was not their most scintillating sexual partner. In fact, their hubbies rated so poorly, 66 percent of wives indicated they'd rather read or sleep than get biz-ay with the chubby dude scratching himself on the couch. But, guys, it's not all bad news: Having already had mind-blowingly hot sex with others, your wife is apparently content to slum it with you because you're stable and nice. Aaww.

For women seeking sperm, thin men are hot and square jaws are not

Brutes with square jaws, broad shoulders and big guts are totally not trending with the ladies. According to new research, women are less interested in the features that denote high testosterone levels and are falling for slim-hipped dudes less likely to drop dead before the kids are out of college. The choices of ovulating women asked to rate men of various sizes and face shapes suggested weight was a far greater factor in their preferences than masculine features. The women favored thinness "because of its strong association with health and immunity," said research scientist Vinet Coetzee, of South Africa's University of Pretoria.

Man complains to cops about prostitute who cut his time short

Like many of us who encounter poor customer service, Scott Pipher complained. Unfortunately for the New Hampshire man, he was being serviced by a prostitute, and he made his complaint to the police. In a case announced this week, police in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, said Pipher was arrested in March after he called them to complain that a prostitute he hired did “not give him his money's worth,” cutting their session 10 minutes short. Pipher, as well as two alleged prostitutes, were arrested in the subsequent investigation. This wasn’t Pipher’s first paid tryst -- he is listed on national escort databases as a difficult customer. Classy guy.

Weedy Washington lights up to celebrate toking legally

What do you do when pot becomes legal? You smoke it! And that's what crowds of Washington state residents did at 12:01 this morning when their law legalizing marijuana kicked in. They gathered at Seattle's Space Needle and at the headquarters of Seattle Hempfest and lit up doobies. A police spokesman manning the blotter posted, "The police department believes that, under state law, you may responsibly get baked, order some pizzas and enjoy a 'Lord of the Rings' marathon in the privacy of your own home." And just like that Washington became the envy of stoners everywhere, with Twitter lighting up with posts like @swallowit's "I need to move here like ASAP."

Florida State’s sales pitch to Andrew Wiggins in the stands was more effective than on the floor

The women of Florida State did everything they could Wednesday night to sell top recruit Andrew Wiggins on the school during his official visit.
Florida State cheerleaders (via @KySportsRadio)Unfortunately for the Seminoles, the basketball team didn't make as good an impression.
Florida State was never remotely competitive in a 72-47 home loss to rival Florida, falling behind by 20 at halftime and by as many as 37 in the second half as Wiggins and his father watched from their courtside seats. It was an atrocious enough performance that Wiggins was probably more likely to commit to the Gators at the end of the night than he was the Seminoles.
Florida State could not generate many clean looks against Florida's array of smothering defenses, an ill-timed poor performance for the Seminoles considering the importance of selling Wiggins on the school. Wiggins, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the class of 2013, is expected to choose between Kentucky and Florida State, his father's alma mater.

If the basketball was uninspiring for Wiggins, what the talented forward witnessed in the stands was likely a lot more enticing.
One row of female Florida State students spelled out "WE WANT WIGGINS" across their white shirts. A group of older women waved signs urging Wiggins to sign with the 'Noles. Florida State's cheerleaders even brandished a pair of clever signs taking jabs at Kentucky, one of which read "Seminoles hunt Wildcats" and the other of which read "FSU has hotter girls."
This spring, when Wiggins makes his decision, we'll see whether the Florida State crowd's attempt to charm the Ontario native had any effect.
At Kentucky, Wiggins would be the centerpiece of a decorated recruiting class expected to lead the Wildcats into title contention again. At Florida State, he'd be the most coveted recruit of the Leonard Hamilton era and the player expected to propel the program to new heights.

Harvard To Approve BDSM Sex Club Called Harvard College Munch

Harvard Bdsm Club
Harvard University, home to the best and the brightest, now has an official club for the kinkiest.
Harvard College Munch for the BDSM set will be approved as a student organization on Friday, the Crimson reported.
The expected go-ahead by the Committee on Student Life will entitle Munch to meet for lunch or dinner on campus, promote gatherings on school grounds and apply for grants from the school's Drug and Alcohol Peer Advisors organization, the paper said.
Once an informal gathering for like-minded individuals to discuss their proclivities in the bedroom without fear of being judged, Munch now has "institutional support" to provide reassurance for its members, its anonymous founder "Michael" said in the story.
One member told the Observer that she had been hit with a riding crop, a belt and canes in a private Munch get-together. "Floggers are my favorite," she said.
There is historical precedent. The Iowa State University student government funded a bondage club in 2003, calling it a triumph for diversity, one publication reported.
Now S&M clubs are increasingly popular at elite institutions as "50 Shades Of Grey" climbed the bestseller list, the Observer said. Columbia, Tufts, MIT and Yale have them, though the story did not say whether they were officially recognized. Assault cases from within some groups have sprung up as well, the paper said.

But one Munch member told the Crimson that the club could provide a haven for those who engage in BDSM (bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism) after they have been scarred by sexual abuse or other trauma.
Harvard spokesperson Jeff Neal told The Huffington Post that the college does not endorse the views or activities of any independent student organization.
