'The Shining' sequel book and prequel film in the works

A book sequel and a film prequel of that milestone of terror, "The Shining," are in the works and Stephen King fans are positively chopping through doors with excitement at the prospect. The tragically titled "Dr. Sleep" focuses on Danny, the little boy in the first book and film. Now a man, Danny uses his telepathic abilities working in a nursing home populated by vampires — obviously. It’s hitting shelves in January, when everyone’s nicely snowed in. Details on the screenplay prequel to Kubrik’s 1980 classic are more scant, but apparently the writers behind "Shutter Island," "Zodiac," and "The Amazing Spider-Man" are involved. Let’s hope the prequel explains how all that blood got in the elevator.
