Sociologist says cheat on your spouse for a lasting marriage
Forget marriage counselors, the key to marital bliss is committing
adultery. That’s according to bestselling author and sociologist Catherine
Hakim’s new book, “The New Rules: Internet Dating, Playfairs and Erotic Power”
that advises us to go out and have an affair to make our marriages last a la the
sexy French. Hakim says America’s divorce rate of around 50 percent can be
chalked up to our uptight attitude, and that a few “playfairs” would remedy the
situation with a little “excitement,” “eroticism” and “adventure” to boot.
(Nope, no mention of STDs.) The sassy Hakim goes as far as to put a value of
$50K on once-a-week sex and says, “Sex is no more a moral issue than eating a
good meal.”
