101-year-old woman says four drinks a day keep the doctor away

Our new hero is a Staten Island woman who just turned 101 and whose recipe for longevity includes booze, booze and more booze. Meet Nancy Lamperti, who was born in 1912 in Oppido Mamertina, Italy, and came to the U.S. in 1927. Her diet each day includes four alcoholic drinks: two glasses of Paisano wine with lunch, a glass of Southern Comfort before dinner and a can of Bud at 6 p.m. Lamperti also rises at 5 a.m. and goes to bed at the early hour of 10 p.m. But let's get back to that booze. Some studies show women who drink moderate alcohol throughout the week stay healthier as they age than nondrinking women. So if you'll excuse us, we're going to run to the liquor store for Grandma.
