Smoking pot in a police parking lot is just as dumb as you think it is

On Tuesday, New Jersey state trooper Erik Tapia was in the parking lot of a police barracks in Totowa preparing for his overnight shift when he says he smelled the oh-so-distinctive smell of marijuana. Following the scent to a car parked two down from his own, Tapia looked inside and allegedly spotted three passengers blazing up. To quote Lt. Stephen Jones, "They didn't make the brightest decision on where to smoke their pot." The dumb trio were charged with possession of marijuana and ecstasy, which police say they also found in the car. A fourth man, who the other three were waiting for while he attempted to pick up an impounded car, was also charged.
